The 2nd TEFSI Training on innovative teaching approaches took place in Zagreb on 2nd-4th October 2019.

The 2nd TEFSI training ‘Innovative Teaching in Higher Education for Sustainable Food Systems’ was organised at the University of Zagreb – Faculty of Agriculture on 2nd-4th October 2019 where project representatives from University of Copenhagen, Münster University of Applied Sciences, University of Gastronomic Sciences and ISARA-Lyon and other selected lecturers from the TEFSI consortium shared their knowledge & experience in innovative teaching (including particular tools & concepts) with lecturers & PhD students from the event hosting University. Event included presentations, workshops and panel discussions. Usage of the innovative methods was illustrated for the subjects covering different aspects of sustainable food systems.

Altogether 62 participants attended the training (including trainees and trainers). Programme of the training can be found here: TEFSI Capacity Building Course, Zagreb – Final Programme. It covered the following topics: Introduction about the project & training Icebreaker activity (for the participants to get to know each other); Presentation on innovative education- experience from EPOS and SUSPLUS projects; Creative process teaching; Group work processes – Belbin roles; The ABC model for course design/reflection: introduction + theory; The ABC model for course design/reflection: workshop (participants were working with their own course syllabus); Preparing and processing filed trips; Terroir; Maestro; Ecotrophelia module; Rubric model for peer feedback – theory and practice; Examples and experiences of the UNIZG lecturers who attended UCPH training; Work with own courses, discussion and sharing the experience; Closing session.

Participants’ feedback was collected at the end of the event using a World Café settings & discussed by project Partners. Certificates of attendance were issued by the organisers for all the participants. Participating teachers (“trainees”) were encouraged to implement the novel concepts and methods in their everyday teaching.
